Boichi「サンケン」ユミンのグルメマンガ、17巻と同時発売. Comic Natalie (in Japanese). Natasha, Inc. November 26, 2012. Archived from the original on July 19, 2023 . Retrieved July 18, 2023. A special little addition i feel that should be mentioned is Boichi's inclusion of how hard he has worked on the manga. He talks about his travels to take lots of different pictures to use as references. I feel that it is a great touch as it gives us, the readers, insight as to how a mangaka goes about working on their art. It's a real treat to see the pictures he takes and comparing them to what he draws. A wonderful aspect of the manga that most certainly should not be over looked. No Celebrities Were Harmed: Let's see, for starters, Ban-Phoung in his first appearance was based on Tony Jaa. Then on the Casino arc, we have one of the director's hitmen is a carbon copy of the great Charles Bronson. And in Wallman, the two male protagonists are dead ringers of George Clooney and Danny Devito. Even at the supposed emotional climax of the story, it still feels as if you hardly know or care about the characters at all. One day, after helping out an old store owner getting extorted from a local gang, Ken is then made the boss of a small gang by a man named Tae-Soo. Ken now finds himself fighting local gang bosses, protecting the ones he cares for and making sure Yumin never finds out, otherwise he'll lose the girl he loves and get arrested.

Bleached Underpants: Subverted completely! The guy doesn't hide the fact that he did porn, even in a fan AMA, he said he'd like to work at it again! Intending to be a manga artist from his childhood days, Mujiki Park (Moo-Jik Park, ボイチ, born January 29, 1973 ) aka Boichi majored in physics in college as preparation to draw science fiction works and also to learn the technology of performance and imaging. He went on to graduate school to major in image technology. In 1993, while still enrolled, he debuted in a Korean Shoujo manga magazine. Since then, he is gaining popularity releasing a number of works, and publishing books on how to draw manga targeting a wide range of reader. He also published books focusing on the art of manga as well as the use of computer assisted tools. Art 10 - I genuinely do not believe words can define the magnificence of Boichi's art! The art is of the same caliber as Takehiko Inoue's Vagabond, Shin Ichi Sakamoto's Innocent, Tomo Takeuchi's Ballroom E Youkoso, or Kentaro Miura's Berserk. Body anatomy is superb, and the detail is unparalleled!

Tropes Associated with Boichi:

Subverted when the White Dragon Clan hitwomen are involved. Ken is forced to fight them the first time, and they're all gruesomely killed. Manga is a Japanese manga series illustrated and written by Boichi. A year after, Ken found that Yumin had actually became an officer in Korea. Yearning to view the girl he loved, Ken dropped out of high school become an officer just like Yumin and so that you can go to Korea. Though Ken was able to go to Korea, he found himself unable to become an officer and instead became a poor Shut in with occupation or no cash. From being mistreated with a bunch gang members after helping an old man, he was scouted by the head of a nearby gang headed by Tae-Soo Park who made him the manager that was new Another factor is the plot, even though is not original it is still very addictive, the love story while not the main focus is also engaging enough and there are great comedic moments within it. Also, if you really look into it its got more depth than what you would expect. tldr: It can be really over the top with everything, mostly for the better except for the ecchi which (for me) is really uncomfortable with few exception. In between Ken's rise, he and Yumin got closer and Yumin started to have feelings for Ken. However, things were always complicated by the interference of either Ken's gang activities and/or Yumin's yakuza connections. The turning point in the story is when Yumin is kidnapped by her own group and Ken is exposed as a gang leader in his attempts to rescue her from his greatest rival, Kim Ban Phuong (a Vietnamese-Korean that has a vicious score to settle with Ken).

Karma Houdini: Yan Taeshin, the manager Ken works with when he briefly works at an idol agency. See Easily Forgiven. Criminal Doppelgänger: Rain is compared to Ken In the final battle between them, he uses this as part of his Breaking Speech in Yumin fell in love with him. Indeed, Ken looks like him when he has his hair down, or has a beard. Heroic Sacrifice: Tae-Soo makes himself the bait to find Ban-Phoung's hideout. Thankfully he makes it. Pineda, Rafael (November 19, 2015). "Kadokawa's English BookWalker App Adds 35 Manga Volumes from Shonengahosha". Anime News Network. Archived from the original on March 5, 2023 . サンケンロック, Trigun: The Lost Plant

This sounds interesting isn't it? What can go wrong? Well, the story and the action part of this manga is pretty good. There are a lot of beatiful panels, and the story leading is also good. It can be always exciting. Almost the best thing in this manga is this is a seinen. The problem is the manga is trying to be very cool, and this has an impact of the action scenes, and some other more. The characters suddenly changes personality, and having unpredictable nature wich would be okay, if this would be once or twice in the whole series even without any racional explanation, but the writer do this every time. This is usually because the gang is just a status symbol. We just see how they raid buildings and after that we can read informations about the band's status, but we never see them. I didn't get what I expect to get. I thought this was gonna be an empire builder-like manga just like the overlord, but as I wrote before, the band is just a cover name for making a protagonist to symbolize a king of the underworld, whose to face you can only kneeling before him. Not gonna lie, these looks pretty awesome, but apart from that, this has no other function. It's like the One Piece crew, but the leader has more prestige...

Rape as Drama: Ken doesn't always manage to save the many women under threat of rape that he encounters, which leads to this trope. Protagonist Journey To Anti-Villain: Initially, Ken is okay with having a small gang that can pass as posers thinking way too big. As time goes on, Ken's influence actually creates a parallel state, he becomes a criminal big shot by owning corrupt Casinos, idol agencies and real estate companies. That's the point where where Ken starts doubting himself, being noticeably careless about rivals trying to destroy or seize his empire, as he thinks it could be for the best. He moved to Japan in 2004 and stepped into the world of Japanese manga with Space Chef Caisar published in the monthly Comic Gum. Since then he has published many manga and one-shots.Informed Attractiveness: When we first see Kae-Lyn, she looks like a gyaru, and despite her body, her makeup make her a case of Butter Face, when she is only tanned she actually looks very cute.

Ban Phoung strikes this pose when he's shot to death. Ken follows suit when Yumin betrays him and blasts him off a skyscraper.

Sun Ken Rock Chapter 1 : Level. 01

Art Shift: The comedy sections almost seem like they come from a different manga when compared to the rest of the manga.
