About this deal

The nation’s most memorable motoring scents have been captured in a new handy air freshener for drivers. Or at least an explanation as to why they had to change such a winning formula - thousands of '80s cabbies can't be wrong! While the smells of engine oil and petrol proved to be popular, the sickly scents of 1980s air fresheners have a lasting place in the nation’s hearts.

The smell of Feu orange transports me straight back to the late 80s when I was very young and going on holiday in my aunties mk3 Escort, good times. One sniff of this really does transport you to motoring from decades past and we sincerely hope that it sparks the imagination of classic car enthusiasts everywhere. I think he means the new 'ghey' type ones, and I have 1 new (proper type we are raving on about) one put it in let the smell go round the car- doesnt last as long as it used to which I pressumed being 20 years old or summat!

Back in the day my Dad worked for Polco and was responsible for bringing the Feu Orange to the UK so you can thank him for the memories and the stained dashboards from leaky air fresheners.

hell, what a shock, no longer available, I didnt realise, tells you when I last walked into a Halfrauds! All content is viewed and used by you at your own risk and we do not warrant the accuracy or reliability of any of the information.feu orange times have sadly been and gone- unless some your car has had them in from the 90's then your very lucky to have that scent ! The conclusion many arrived at is that the truly original Feu Orange, would be far too dangerous to produce in the more enlightened times we are living in now and couldn't possibly be supplied with a pin, and potential seepage of the highly concentrated liquid essence stripping paint from Volkswagen dashboards. The smell itself really takes me back to my uncles Rover P4; if I close my eyes it feels like the 80’s again. id imagine theyve probably been withdrawn from sale because the H+FS nazis think most people these days arent capable of sticking a pin into something without slipping and jamming it into they're eyeball or something. Having had a certain brand of modern liquid car air freshener that leaked and melted an airvent and damaged the radio surround, never again will I go near one of them.

No they are no longer made, many people on retrorides were looking them and contacted the company that makes them. Well I've been looking for years and my local motor factor said that the old skool style one was not made any more because, and I nearly choked on my tongue when I heard this, the pin could cause injuries to users. The air freshener proved to be particularly evocative for one respondent who said, 'A Feu Orange traffic light air freshener - the sort where you prick the back of the clear bubble with a pin. Channel 4's Car SOS host Fuzz Townshend says, 'My top old car smells were leather and pipe smoke, so I’m not surprised they both made it into the top five.

EU8 civic type S - MG ZT cdti - R56 MINI Cooper S - Audi A3 8p - Jaguar XF (X250) - FN2 Civic Type R - Mk2 2. Just listening to 70's music and reading this topic and everything was just taking me back to those times of being a kid with the scent of the orange filling the car, wearing shorts in summer and burning my legs on the seat. If I could find a stash of these beauties I'd snap them up in an instant, that smell is authentic motoring yesteryear.

like the rest of you I have looked time and time again in Halfords for the ORIGINAL type with goldie looking chain attached can I find one. It took me flipping ages to track this little lot down and I will be using them, sparingly, in future projects. Could some one let me know who makes them and I will ask the company maketing department if they have any left or if they are going to make them again.I once hid a whole ripe Brie under the dashboard of someone's Transit over a long hot Bank holiday weekend. It's faded (more like Feu P*ss Yellow now) but I'm looking forward to inhaling its old-fashioned orange-grovey goodness. We’ve been overwhelmed by the response and interest in helping us to create the ultimate ‘Old Car Smell’ and are delighted with the final fragrance. I saw that there was an attempt to do a pin-less version with a plastic puncturing tool but that never sold as well.
