And revisit the ones I am familiar with like Count Duckula and Danger Mouse - I used to love them so much. Upon leaving school, Jason wanted to be an actor, influenced by his brother, but their father advised that he first learn a trade. Prompted by his retirement from his full-time job in the NHS, and through his continuing work in Nepal and Ukraine, Henry has been forced to reflect more deeply about what 40 years spent handling the human brain has taught him. He chose the stage name Jason because he liked Jason and the Argonauts, as the stage name "David White" was already taken, and not in tribute to his dead twin as has sometimes been claimed. Overall, My Life offers a good insight into David Jason's life and history, would make a lovely Christmas present for fans.

I was really looking forward to finding out more about him through his long awaited autobiography My Life. In September 2006, Jason topped the poll to find TV's 50 Greatest Stars, as part of ITV's 50th anniversary celebrations. Had me laughing when mentioned had nailed leonard's shoes to the floor as a joke in the dressing room and moved at many parts especially hearing the poetry from the first 'guvner' Ronnie Barker, before he was given the same fond title when Ronnie retired. Through a natural talent for making people laugh, found himself working with the leading lights of British comedy in the 1960s and ’70s: Eric Idle, Michael Palin, Bob Monkhouse and Ronnie Barker.Maybe I'm just a little biased, being such a huge fan of Only Fools, but I think that might not even be the case.

My Life is a hugely entertaining and engagingly written book that I found totally absorbing and interesting. Jason lived at Lodge Lane, North Finchley, and attended Northfield Secondary Modern school after failing the 11-plus in 1951. Even though there were lots of amusing stories about what him and his fellow actors got up too, it is the stories about friends and family that touch you the most, and allow you to see the man. David Jason rejected for lead role in Some Mothers Do 'Ave Em because BBC execs thought he lacked 'star quality' ". The majority of pages are undamaged with some creasing or tearing, and pencil underlining of text, but this is minimal.

In 1999, Jason starred as Captain Frank Beck in BBC's feature-length drama All the King's Men about the Sandringham regiment lost in World War I. As the front-woman of Blondie, she and the band forged a new sound that brought together the worlds of rock, punk, disco, reggae and hip-hop to create some of the most beloved pop songs of all time.
