I guess some folks would "fly" them but I feel these are more meant to be built and then displayed and appreciated. BrickEconomy, the BrickEconomy logo and all content not covered by The LEGO Group's copyright is, unless otherwise stated, ©2024 BrickEconomy. Even the Hubble Telescope in its original incarnation before Lego collaborates with the designer, is WAY too big.

The two sloped 'Earth Green' bricks that were used to hide most of the back of the plates is a great addition however it's only conned by one Technic pin which means doesn't stay still.LEGO TimeLapses builds Poulsom’s official LEGO Birds set, featuring a robin, a blue jay, and a hummingbird, in the above video. Ideas is a tricky platform, obviously sets that look impressive but have an unrealistic vote count will hit 10000 votes, due to the media coverage and attention it receives. It's a set that will sky rocket in the aftermarket, you would rather purchase this whenever you get the chance since it has a limited production run like any other LEGO Ideas set. So while you may have a great design and it may well be spectacular, popular and a shoe-in, it’s certainly no guarantee that you’ll see yourself in a Lego ideas booklet with the set nor a dollar from the sales.

I really enjoyed that you could build each bird separately, which allowed me and my wife to spend a relaxing evening putting this set together. Melding LEGO and Technic in the most ingenious ways, the build is especially challenging but rewarding, especially when you see the functions in action! The brown 'Plate' would have been nice in transparent but I may be mistaken, but it could be its feet? I was digging a vegetable patch one day and during a quick break I noticed a Robin land on my fork handle.TKSST is an unprecedented collection of 6,000+ kid-friendly videos, curated for teachers and parents who want to share smarter, more meaningful media in the classroom and at home. As always with the LEGO Ideas sets, they are high-quality books containing the building instructions, information on the LEGO Ideas platform and background information about the set and its original creator. Appeal to builders aged 9 and up with a fun gift to have in time for both spring and Easter – the LEGO Bird’s Nest (40639) kit. On the back, we get more watercolour goodness in the form of a map which pinpoints each Bird’s native location and a helpful diagram showing the exact dimensions of each Bird model. The adorable lovebirds sit on a branch decorated with pink hearts and flowers, while the big red heart symbolizes their love.

The Blue Jay’s only bizarre fault is his legs, which is mostly constructed out of Technic parts and are fused to the platform that it’s perched upon. The only thing I wasn't thrilled about was the base where the "stick" on the birds go, putting it through the 2 holes vs a more solid connection seemed like they will fall out at times. In this case the white and brown is showing though a small gap above the assembly of the red belly of the Robin. However, there is market indication that the set will experience a slight annual growth decrease in the coming years, but this should be only by a few percentage points at most. Take a look at the other collectable sets in the series including the LEGO Flower Bouquet (10280) and the LEGO Bonsai Tree (10281). There are also a few rare pieces in this set: Plate 6x16 (Dark Green), Right Plate 3X8 W/Angle (Earth Blue), Left Plate 3X8 W/Angle Earth Blue), Roof Tile 4X2/18° W/Cor.

The set has 232 pieces and features a nest with a flowering branch and space for a mummy bird, 2 chicks and 3 Easter eggs. If you stare at it close enough, it creates a sort of optical illusion that makes the wings look like they’re beating rapidly, which I think is quite a genius design.

Birds is a wonderful breath of fresh air to LEGO Ideas and I believe is a shot in the arm to the Ideas ethos: providing a platform for creative fan-made models to become retail LEGO sets. The Hummingbird’s head looks a little robotic due to the lack of eyes, but because of the size constraints, I think the designers did well with what they had to work with.
