Yes, the back and forth between them got a little repetitive but the tension between them definitely made up for it.

His reasons for never taking it further with Remi when they were younger were heartwarming, yet horrifying when you discover he married her best friend instead. After about the 3rd one, I skipped every single sex scene cause I just didn’t care anymore 😂 I wanted to see the angst, hear their conversations, I wanted to read more about her painting because it was so interesting, but absolutely everything turned into sex when they were alone together they must have been exhausted! The attraction didn’t fade as he got older, over the years Remi made it clear that she was interested too, but he kept rejecting her and then he married her best friend, who was the same age as her, just to be sure she got the message. I did teach her she was unloveable and really too much to handle through my repeated rejection, but then I got mad at her when she thinks she’s unlovable. And the whole “oh Remi you are just the most special girl in the world” and the other female characters hated her for being so special and taking all their shine literally made me want to burn the book.Read more about the condition Very Good: A book that has been read and does not look new, but is in excellent condition. The more I learned, the more questions I had and read with such a sense of urgency because I couldn't wait to find out everything.

There is a woman who needs to escape from an abusive relationship, there are families and their pasts, and the dynamics of parents/husbands and wives. Lucy Score truly knows how to bring a unique, vibrant, fun, and compelling story to all her books and with each book of hers that I read, I not only fall more in love with Lucy, but her characters! Since I have read romance, one of the main conflicts presented is the idea that one of the partners feels they aren't worthy of the other. He wanted to turn her ass pink and then sink between her legs as she came up on her tiptoes to take him. She grew up in a literary family who insisted that the dinner table was for reading and earned a degree in journalism. Not when the man who broke her teenage heart into splinters keeps showing up at her parents’ dinner table. Overall, I thought the plot was interesting, Remi was a talented and successful artist but her family still thought she was struggling to make a name for herself.

Why is the elephant in the room only dealt with at the end of the book and with absolutely no fanfare - I waited the whole book through for the verbal showdown between the h and ow, but no…. It's a lot of back and forth between the two with Brick being a Alpha who is grumpy but lovable and Remi the red haired pixie who has come back and turned his and her world in its side. Had to roll my eyes at the Senator doing his own evil work but again this is a work of fiction and we all like a HEA so by him sending himself and not just sending “henchmen”, we could reach a happy conclusion faster. Remi and Brick’s attraction/ crush they had for one another wasn’t just something out of the blue, it was something that was present even back when Remi was in high school. There seemed to be a theme of crapping all over Remi bc of their insecurities and it’s like no big deal but it definitely should have been.
