Description

The COMFORT+ Warm Air Distribution system is a recovery of hot air via a chimney heat exchanger which consists of taking the heat produced a stove and distributing it to selected rooms.

I got a pretty good sized fire going, nice and hot, to "cure" all of the fireplace mortar and stove paint.

The bolt is then tightened, pulling the cutting die through the sheet metal , creating a perfect hole. To do this, I needed to determine the diameter of the bucket that I was using for the housing of the heat exchanger. Between burning the same amount of wood (with the same amount of available BTU's) - I would think a fireplace would allow the most BTU's up the chimney, the heat exchanger the 2nd, and a proper stove the least amount of heat up the chimney = most heat in the room. It's much harder to get a good hot penetrating weld with a wire welder than a beefy old stick welder with some 6010 or 6011 rod.

The main concern is the pipes hold together and are sealed so I'm not getting smoke blown in the room. All of these are lessons I sort of knew, and can ignore somewhat if I am fixing a shovel, but still have a weld that won't break but won't win any beauty contests either. From the picture, after it turns 90 degrees (away from the camera), it just goes through the wall and ends. If I understand his description correctly, he has no chimney; the pipe just goes out through the side wall.Incorporating a heat sink radiator between the heat exchanger and the valve should allow for excess to be distributed by convection. Hello, I have heard of heating systems that recover some of the heat from the chimney of your woodburner and duct it around the house. I plan on insulating the firebox with high temperature insulation (another thread) and then adding a heat exchanger, also homemade, to the top of the whole caboodle. The down side to the multiple exhaust ports tapering to 1 is the possibility of turbulence restricting draw.

As you mention, putting water on a hot weld causes hydrogen embrittlement, which is deadly to strength and causes cracks, something I was unaware of until reviewing some of those welding basics videos I linked above. I'll try and remember to take a photo tonight, it seems very wrong to me, if nothing else having no weather protection on it.Once I got a good fit, I slid the union into the bucket, then used a paint market to draw a line around the perimeter of the union. com is THE place on the internet for free information and advice about wood stoves, pellet stoves and other energy saving equipment. I drilled a 1/8" diameter hole in the band saw table the distance away from the blade equal to the radius of the circle desired. Alum is almost 5X as thermally conductive as steel, and copper is almost 8X as thermally conductive as steel.
