This will give you time to put your pack to good use and we’re sure you’ll have plenty to keep you busy before then! The DadPad app is a useful resource before baby arrives and after baby is born, and is designed to be used as a quick, on-the-go reference tool, allowing new dads to enjoy their babies and feel more confident about fatherhood.

The DadPad] is about Dads being prepared for some of that tension and strain of being a new parent, but without being overwhelmed and knowing that it’s not just mums who can access the help and advice that’s available, even if they don’t live with their partner. This 36 pages long guide is incredibly practical, with wipe-clean pages full of easy-to-use, supportive advice. Being a parent of a child in neonatal care can come with a lot of other emotions and problems to deal with, and DadPad Neonatal can offer additional help and support. Young dads find it difficult to ask for help, particularly where their partners can become expert in the practicalities quite quickly and they don’t. Having chosen to invest in including and engaging with dads-to-be, and wanting to encourage new dads to get involved and come forward with questions and issues they have throughout their partner’s pregnancy and beyond, the DadPad App is free to you.

Outside of the service working hours, you’ll receive a message back to inform you that your text will be responded to once the line reopens. It is packed with relevant information, as well as details on local support groups and service providers. Julia Burrows, Director for Public Health and Communities, said: “It’s brilliant to see the broad range of support available to new parents is continually growing in our borough, supporting families to navigate this new chapter in their lives. Building a strong attachment enables dads to better enjoy their new role and contributes towards positive long-term social, health and educational outcomes for their babies. This will help us to ensure it’s a helpful resource, inform any changes and keep it up-to-date with what's important to local dads.

We listened to what dads, their partners and health professionals asked for and combined it all in the DadPad. There is also a resource for co-parents (LGBTQ+ non-birthing parents) being prepared by DadPad and available to new and expectant families in Stoke in early 2023. it provides information and support to new dads as they adjust to their role and provides guidance on how they can get the most out of this new experience.Remember, too, that the health visitor service is not only for Mum, but for Dad as well, even if you're not all living together.

Dads living in Barnsley can now benefit from a new app, DadPad, that provides practical advice on how they can support themselves, their partner and their baby, giving their child the best start in life.Crucially, the app provides dads with guidance on how to support and seek help (when needed) for their partners and themselves as they adjust to their new roles.
