Description

The KingCamp is undoubtedly fabricated from decent materials – the two valves on the SIM are brass which is a nice touch and differentiates the Deluxe from other SIMs which rely on plastic. We recommend an R-Value of 3 or higher for 3-season use, and 5 or higher if you will be lying on the ground in winter too. Superb Berghaus sleeping mat, very comfortable with a bit of extra puff and still packs up fairly small, it has a good quality feel about it and I expect it will last a long time.

The armrests and pillows are manually blown up via separate standard inflatable valves using either your breath or a pump bag if you would rather use fresh air. Couldn’t find an R-value anywhere, but guessing it’s somewhere around 2-3; This is a 3cm thick, 119cm long minimalist ultralight mat, after all. Inflation and deflation are very straightforward, and the small packed size very useful if equipment space is at a premium in your set-up.Open the valve up, stick you finger inside it and carefully fold the baffle back on itself so that it stays fully open when you are rolling it away. Kept me warm from underneath, the other 2 I shared a tent with always said I slept like a baby and they woke up cold from their inflatable and roll matt. For real additional comfort to the Ultim you need to be looking at a 15cm SIM such as the Outdoor Revolution Skyfall or similar. In this article we concentrate on our experience and recommendations for the choice of best self inflating mattress, and so the size and weight of the product is of less concern than how comfortable it is and how well it stays inflated etc.

The valve system is different - you push to open, push again to close - takes a little getting used to, but it works; There is a fairly slight possibility you could press the valve in your sleep…. Extremely compact, the Berghaus Peak Compact Self-Inflating Mat is barely noticeable in an expedition pack.Warmth - Clearly, keeping warm is not just about the right sleeping mat it is also about the right sleeping bag and clothing. If you would rather a more compact single mattress then carry on reading, because a couple of Shangri Las will take up nearly all of your car boot space! We've previously taken air beds that you have to pump up, but they don't provide very even support; these somehow do. I’ve bought this item to put onto my fishing bed chair , I’ve not yet used it , I did however inflate and deflate the sleeping mat with ease .

It may be lighter for you to carry two sleeping pads and a lightweight 3-season sleeping bag, rather than a heavy 4-season sleeping bag and a standard mat. the Deluxe offers a sufficient length of 6ft 6” which should be ample for most of the adult population of the world – apart from Sultan Kosen perhaps. If you look carefully you can find some really reputable sources for professional reviews, much like this top 8 tent review from Independent. In a similar way to the Berghaus Air 10, the Vango uses a flip valve to allow air to stream unidirectionally – either in or out, depending on whether you wish to inflate or deflate. As someone who has managed to burst a very expensive sleeping mat with a hammer (yes true), having some glue and a repair patch close to hand is very useful. One thing we noted that we didn’t like too much were the sloping sides and fairly smooth/slippery material used on top of the Trekology. In a first that we’ve seen, inflation and deflation are dealt with by two separate ‘twinlock’ valves – one inny and one outy!
